Ethan Bean and Mental Health

Ethan Bean, (< See background here) took his life on August 24, 2018.  He was a deeply caring and intellectual young man, but he exhibited several behaviors as "atypical" (neurodiverse) and he struggled socially. Ethan found himself in the juvenile justice system due to a mood regulation disorder. However, he did well in school and had many interests including playing the saxophone (he earned his band letter for it), had aspirations to be a commercial airline pilot, and loved any form of transportation. At the time of his death, he was working regularly at a job he obtained and during a busy summer where he recently visited a college of his dreams, as well as a vacation with his family in Arizona and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. For his approaching senior year in high school, he was registered in a dual enrollment community college program.

Our Mission

The Ethan Bean Mental Wellness Foundation is dedicated to examining the efficacy of ongoing mental health treatment, drug intervention, effects of social media, use of technology, and socialization in order to help remove societal stigma and improve acceptance/tolerance of those with mental health conditions as well as those that are uniquely lined. The goal is to learn better ways to support those who are different and accept them for their everyday obstacles.
