Our country has been divided too long by racial hate and fear. We at The Ethan Bean Mental Wellness Foundation (EBMWF) are dedicated to helping to abolish these injustices. Our goal is to promote that people of all races, religions, and genders are treated equally as that is a core value of our democracy and hopefully one day of all countries. Since our inception we have stood for inclusion and that all people deserve a fair chance at growing to their full potential. We also believe that no one can reach their full potential if they do not feel safe and accepted for who they are. Our first contribution was a children’s book entitled Ethan’s Healthy Mind Express: A Children’s First Mental Health Primer. It was created to instill the value of inclusion for all in the classroom whenever possible. The lessons teach us that atypicals (neurodiversity) whose behavior is often not fully diagnosable using the latest DSM-V from the American Psychiatric Association are one of the fastest growing populations in the elementary school system, who are being under-served. Due to the George Floyd May 25, 2020 death, we want to reiterate to the community that all our foundation members, those that serve on our board, those who author our books, those who may conduct our research, and those who serve in all capacities are dedicated to curtailing racial injustice, curtailing under-served student populations, and determined to model the behaviors we believe represent kindness, understanding, and compassion for all people. This includes how we interact with the community on social networks, in the schools we communicate with, and in our professional and private lives. We believe in Freedom of Speech, but we use information wisely and we carefully study it before we react to it. Our mission is to educate using our books, our research findings, and our prospective community events designed to serve as memorable lessons that no disability need hinder or neglect anyone from reaching their full potential. Psychologists, psychiatrists, medical doctors, schoolteachers, police, parents, clergy, and other professionals including ourselves, can strive to do better.
